Floral Alphabet

Being creative in nature means I'm constantly thinking up fun/amazing/beautiful/inspiring new projects to do, either by myself or as little collaborations with fellow creatives.  This particular one was dreamt up between myself and Kate Bufton of Book Transformations.  The idea was to send each other postcards, each time with the next letter of the alphabet on with illustrations on a set theme.

As with most projects we got distracted with real work and got bogged down with the details - it took us a good few months to decide on a theme and even then if didn't get started so we (I) scratched that theme.  I send quite a few letters to my Gran and knowing she likes flowers I got her input and help with finding different flowers/plants for each letter of the alphabet.

These three floral alphabet cards will be going out to Kate, my Gran, and my friend Lou (who wanted to send more post this year).  But then this little project is going to finish here.  I might take up a different approach to the illustrations that makes it less demanding, and probably start again with that idea!  But not for a little while.

Summer Garden Party Themed Wedding Invitations

Please note addresses have been removed for privacy

I'm at that age now where my friends and family are getting married, having babies and buying houses. It seemed to happen all of a sudden, but I've grabbed the opportunities that have come my way to help them enjoy these special times as much as they can.

Designing wedding invitations is an absolute pleasure!  I take on the colour scheme and the feel that the future Mr & Mrs are after and set off with ideas and sketches.  Over a few meetings these develop into final illustrations, screen prints, digital mock-ups, and finally the finished product.

Every couple is different, and therefore want different things out of their invitations.  Sometimes they're after just an invitation, or they could want the whole shebang with invitations, evening invitations, RSVPs, information card + map and more!  I'm here to accommodate the lot and help you get what you want within budget.

Theme : Summer Garden Wedding
Colours : Purples and greys
Pieces needed : Save the date, invitation, evening invitation, wedding list card, thank you cards

The largest request I've had so far has been for Lydia & Alex.  They required; save the date's, invitations, evening invitations, information card + map, RSVPs and a Sunday Lunch invitation too!  Their colour scheme is purple and grey, and after the ceremony in a sweet church, the reception will be held in a garden with a garden party style feel.

Lydia's inspiration

Knowing these points is a key starting point to my designs.  I went down the floral route after Lydia showed me a photo of a floral wall she'd seen and loved at a Bridal show she'd been to, and it was a major hit!  A key photo like this, a clip out of a magazine, or even showing me your wedding inspiration board on Pinterest is a great insight to give me.

I'm really pleased with how every aspect of these invitations link together.  I've been consistent with text, colour and images, bringing it together as a set as well as each piece working by itself.
