Travel Bunnies

I had the absolute pleasure of painting this commission for a gift from a friend to her sister as a little gift to wish her well on her travels round Thailand.  When younger, the sister had a toy bunny and upon seeing my bunny doodles for the Brown Paper Bunny (aka Jessica Mack) she was inspired to ask me to do a special one.

I went to Thailand for a month in 2009.  I had intended on seeing a temple made of beer bottles - recycling to the extreme!  Only I never quite found it, no one knew what I was talking about.  Next time I shall do more research before I go :-) I enjoyed a very relaxed lifestyle and enjoyed the Thai food, even did a cookery lesson.

They Draw and Travel - Map no.2

London Town

The lovely Nate and Salli launched a competition for the prettiest map on their 'They Draw and Travel'  website/project called 'You-topia'.  Last year I illustrated a map of Fiji for them, which I loved doing so much - you can read about that here.  So when I read about this contest, it spurred me on to do another map for them!  I chose London, as it's my closest city.  I've recently started working there, and I just love it!  This map is full of a few of my favourite things to do during the day in London.  There was no way I could fit everything in and for people to appreciate it all as well!  

Hopefully there will be more time this year to do more maps.

Materials: Watercolour paints, black fine liner, digital text.

They Draw & Travel

As soon as i came across Nate & Salli's blog/website, I was hooked/amazed/excited...could not wait to get started!  Of course, I wanted my map to be perfect, and to come across in just the right way so it took me a little while, but here it is!

Please give me some feedback and most of all ideas/requests for the next map!
